Due to sanctions put on the Taliban administration by several Western nations, salaries have gone unpaid for months, and the country has fallen into a deep economic crisis as a result.

The stipends of around $100 per month will be sponsored by the European Union and will be paid — in Afghanis – to approximately 194,000 primary and secondary school teachers for the months of January and February, according to a UNICEF statement issued on Sunday.

According to Mohamed Ayoya, the representative for UNICEF Afghanistan, "After months of uncertainty and suffering for many instructors, we are glad to give emergency help to public school teachers in Afghanistan who have spared no effort to keep children learning."

Since the Taliban seized control of the nation in August, when Western forces departed, the country has been in a state of economic disaster.

Sanction-related restrictions on the banking sector, combined with a reduction in development financing, have resulted in the new administration being unable to pay many public sector salaries, including those of teachers.

When it comes to engaging with the Taliban without openly acknowledging their rule, officials say the international community has prioritized education for females as a crucial priority when talking with the organization.

There has been no official word from the Taliban on their plans for females' education, and many of them are still unable to attend secondary school in many parts of the country.

The organization, on the other hand, stated that it is working on plans to enable females to return to school and that it will establish universities this month with female students.
